Before you start, it’s important to consider what kind of metal you’re painting. If your chairs are made from mild steel or galvanized metal, we recommend you use a specialized paint, such as Dulux Water-based Gloss. For chairs that have previously been painted, we recommend Dulux Water-based Gloss.
Prepare for painting by covering the floor and surrounding area with newspaper or an old sheet.
Remove any loose rust and flaking paint with a wire brush or coarse sandpaper. Then, give them a wash them with a mild detergent – this will ensure the new paint sticks to the chair.
Time to paint! Firstly, apply one coat of Dulux Water-based Gloss Primer and leave it to dry as directed on the back of the tin, followed by two coats of Dulux Water-based Gloss Topcoat for best results.
Let your chairs dry for 24 hours in a spot that’s protected from the elements. To complete the look, add a few colourful cushions and a comfy outdoor rug. Sit back, relax and enjoy your colourful outdoor haven!
